Site Controller - Trevelyan Middle School

I first started my career at the end of my apprenticeship as a painter and decorator. Over time, I’ve acquired useful skills in other construction trade areas and I am now able to put these to good use in various ways at Pioneer Educational Trust. Prior to joining Pioneer Educational Trust, I went on to work as a facilities caretaker and manager at a large student halls accommodation site for university students.

Having always worked in either construction or site facilities, I am fortunate to be able to combine the two at Pioneer Educational Trust. Each day, I do what I love to practise: my trade skills and facilitating the school’s day to day needs in keeping it secure, safe and clean for all. In one, my inspiration is drawn from hard work. I’m a great believer that if you work hard and put your all in, you will succeed in anything you want to! As a family man and a father of two young daughters, I aim to inspire them with these values. This is reflected in my job through the fact I both work and live at Trevelyan Middle School as a Site Controller. It provides me a great work/life balance.

It’s fantastic working with a multi academy trust. Although the schools are different in their own ways, it allows us to collaborate on ideas and implement them in ways that are right for our individual settings. We, the premises team at Pioneer, all have our own individual strengths; we are a fantastic team and we all learn and absorb skills from each other. It’s truly an immensely happy and friendly place to work.
