Talent Management and CPD

We invest in our workforce so that, in turn, our workforce invests in our learners.

Our colleagues are supported to take intelligent risks, push the boundaries of what is thought possible and be aspirational in what they can achieve professionally. To deliver this, our Pioneering Leadership Programme, underpinned by the principles of vertical leadership development, coaches all colleagues to seek ‘heat experiences’, engage in ‘colliding perspectives’ and achieve elevated ‘sense-making’.

Our appraisal policy is underpinned by a coaching way of being, with appraisers all trained to apply the GROWTH model of coaching. It seeks to provide the proper conditions through which unimagined resources of creative human energy can be released and our culture of self-responsibility and self-fulfilment can be achieved.

Our Quality Improvement Entitlement model gives all teachers and teaching assistants access to peer-to-peer coaching and feedback on their practice. Instead of ‘line management’, middle and senior leaders receive 1:1 leadership coaching.

Our continuing professional development and learning (CPDL) model enables all individuals to learn in multiple and diverse ways, seeing ‘the work as the development’. Colleagues access collaborative CPDL in-school and across Pioneer, engage in research and development and access high-quality accredited courses led by experts and national leaders, such as the national professional qualifications (NPQs) and Master’s programmes.

We also seek to foster diversity and drive equality across our workforce. We participate in WomenEd, BAMEed, LGBTed and #DisabilityEd, and were proud to host the Diverse Educators III Unconference in January 2020 at Upton Court Grammar School. We continually seek ways to ensure we foster even greater diversity across our workforce and drive equality through our commitment to finding creative solutions to flexible working.
